SafeOregon\nis for students to report harmful or potentially harmful behavior against themselves,\nother students, school staff, or school sites. Your school\nis enrolled in and part of the SafeOregon tip line program and your school\nadministrators are the Point of Contacts at your site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
SafeOregon was created by the passing of 2016 HB 4075 (ORS 339.329) and started January 31, 2017. Oregon State Police manages the tip line which serves as a pass through for anonymous or confidential tips provided by students and community members, and follow-up is completed at the local level, because schools, mental health providers and local law enforcement know their students and communities best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SafeOregon tips can be submitted 24\/7\/365 through 5 different reporting methods: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n -SafeOregon.com website<\/p>\n\n\n\n -text<\/p>\n\n\n\n -email<\/p>\n\n\n\n -call<\/p>\n\n\n\n -mobile app<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Tips are\npromptly analyzed and routed for the most appropriate follow up and urgency to\nschool officials and, when necessary, to local law enforcement. SafeOregon tips have been received regarding\nchild abuse situations, suicide ideation, planned school attacks and more. The\ntip line has already saved lives. Teachers\nand administrators have also reported that tips help alleviate situations before\nthey turn to tragedy or create larger issues in the classroom and at the\nschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\nnumber one reason why children do not report is the fear of retaliation from\ntheir peers. The SafeOregon Tip Line can be accessed from the privacy of a\nphone, home computer or other Internet equipped device, eliminating the\npossibility of being identified by another student and thus, increasing the\nlikelihood that a school safety threat would be reported. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\nrecognize that creating a safe learning environment is a critical part of\nhelping each child achieve academic success. SafeOregon gives students another\nmedium for communicating with your school administration when school safety\nincidents occur. SafeOregon is not a replacement for students to speak to a\ntrusted adult or a replacement for calling 9-1-1 in emergency situations; it is\nmerely another tool for your safety toolkit. \nWe appreciate you partnering with SafeOregon to support your students.\nWe value your critical role.
